David, how would these be fabricated? What's the material and how do you keep them looking "strange" rather than droopy? Is there a way to refine the forms of these objects so they relate in a more specific way to the bridge? Or maybe they already do. They remind me of the smoke plumes that used to rise in the valley when the steel mills were in full swing.

Oh an the smoke plumes from that one time when the whole river burned. That was fun too.

These remind me of the smoke monster from Lost, the TV show. I think it is important to think of what is the core idea behind these inflatable things. If you want to attract attention to the bridge, black might be more scary then fun; would you consider adding more color? And like what Terry said, how do you keep them from drooping? Are there fans underneath keeping them inflated?

Have you seen images of kite festivals? Hundreds of colorful kites of different shapes and sizes. Makes you want go wherever that activity is coming from. Do you envision these to be something like that, signalling the occurence of an activity? Or giant inflatable balloons...

I'm worried that that smoke bags will blow onto the roadway above. But I worry too much.
