Restaurant with a View

We believe that we should turn the bridge into a restaurant. We could get a sponsorhip from an already established franchise. People would be able to sit on the span and enjoy the magnificent and unique view the viaduct offers while enjoying a unique dining experience. Seating would be in the form of vibrantly colored bean bag chairs to cut cost and give the area an eccentric and unique style that will draw onlookers for miles. After the charrette, we could donate the bean bags to children's institutions, such as day cares, preschools, or children's wards in hospitals. Fold-out tables could be set on the floor low enough for visitors to eat. The only decor the area would need is the soothing and awe-inspiring view the bridge provides. The viaduct presents the city in a way no other site can. The fresh air and open space amplifies the dining experience.

I think it's funny that I started off thinking about a really fancy restaurant with elegant table cloth and fantastic views of the city, then I got to the part about the bean bag chairs and my mind started to scramble! But I think that's exactly what would give it the "eccentric and unique style" that you describe. Would the dining space be differentiated from the surrounding area in any particular way besides there being tables and chairs? Would it be surrounded by potted plants or screens? Would it need to be a restaurant or would the table and chairs just be placed there for anyone to bring their own lunch and enjoy the view? Would you need to buy the bean bag chairs, and if so could you look into how much they would cost? There is already a cafe environment planned for the Bridge Project, so would you like to collaborate with those folks?

I agree with David. Teaming with those already providing food on site is a great idea. So the designing on your part will involve creating a specific atmosphere. Considering that food will be more fair/party/carnival kind of items, would you want to consider an environment that goes with that theme or something completely unexpected? It's like that McDonalds in NYC which is a sit-down restaurant complete with real napkins! An unexpected ambience gives a totally different meaning to common foods.
